Our Philosophy Regarding Scuba Diving

In every industry, marketplace, or hobby, there is a separation between beginners, amateurs, and professionals. Scuba Diving, is no exception.

There are professionals who dive for a living—technical divers, divers who work for fisheries and oil refineries, and all sorts of other purposes. There are even professional military divers and trainers of all sorts.

Then, there are others who are advanced amateurs or semi-pro hobbyists who dive on liveaboards every year and have invested thousands of dollars in equipment and annual travel and who regularly "dive deep" and have multiple certifications.

Then, there's the rest of us—those of us who dive because its FUN. We are recreational divers. We dive for the sheer fun of it. We do it because its fun. We love it.

We're not "professionals." We haven't dove down to 200 feet or more. We don't like fast currents. We don't like cold water, and we don't like to feel uncomfortable. And why should we? We're not pros. We do it FOR FUN!

Dont' Be Afraid to Just Have Fun

There is an attitude that seems to be more and more prevalent in our social media addicted, show everybody your life, try to be better than everyone else, and live a life of pretense, based society.

People nowadays don't want to do anything if they are not good at it. Or they don't want to start a hobby that they think they won't excel in. Or they don't want to share their passions if they are not professionals in it.

Let me help you out…SCREW THAT! Have fun! Don't be afraid to have fun. You know why? Because it's fun to have fun. Just dive for fun! That's what we do here at Discover the Deep. We want to share the joy of scuba diving with everyone! We want everyone to experience the sheer joy of the underwater experience. There is nothing like it. It's just fun!

In fact, I myself, have never been certified beyond the beginner's "Open Water" level. You know why? I don't need to. I'm not trying to impress anyone. I'm just having fun. And so should you!

So if you only dive 1 or 2 times per year, this is the website for you. Maybe you dive more than that. That's cool. But the point is—no matter how many times you dive per year, if you're doing this for FUN, like we are, then this is the website for you!

Discover the Deep is for hobbyists, beginners, amateurs, and whoever else just loves to dive JUST FOR FUN! Professionals and advanced technical divers have their own websites. This one is for those of us who just want to have fun!
